Since 2015, “Zupe Cruises” have been a fun and exciting adventure for ballroom dancers.  Over the years, I have had the honor and pleasure of entertaining dancers, from various states, and enjoyed making new friends, and memories, in some of the most beautiful locales in the world.

This year is proving to be quite different.  The news (and rumors) of COVID-19 (coronavirus) seem to spread faster than the illness, itself.  And one can certainly get rattled by the information overload.  Lord knows I am.

But these are the facts:

- Three cruise ships have been quarantined, due to passengers/crew testing positive for coronavirus.  (Holland America Line’s ms Westerdam, Princess Line’s Diamond Princess and Grand Princess)

- The CDC recommends “travelers, particularly those with underlying health issues, defer all cruise ship travel worldwide.”

- In a travel advisory issued Sunday evening, the State Department said there is an increased risk of infection of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, on cruise ships.

I have always cherished the fact that Zupe Cruises are fun, relaxing, elegant, and memorable.  We have had such a good time, together, and I truly look forward to more in the future.

But it won’t be this time.

In light of the official reports from the State Department, the CDC, and the Surgeon General, I feel it’s in our best interests to officially cancel “Zupe Cruise 4” scheduled to embark on March 21st.  I care too much about all of our well-beings to put us at risk.

Holland America Line has made cancelling a bit easier.  The cancellation fee will be used as a deposit toward a future cruise.  That comes from this letter from Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line.

Call our Cruise Consultant, Michael Rogers, at 1-800-355-3017 ext. 29433 and he will walk you through cancellation procedures.  He told me he has quite the backlog of voicemails, right now.  I would suggest emailing him to get the ball rolling.  His email is MRogers@HollandAmerica.com

Please know this was not easy for me.  But our cruise family is too special to simply ignore the times.  I want us to have the best of times, together, and look forward to doing just that on a future “Zupe Cruise.”

Yours Very Sincerely,

Zupe
